Lumières d'été
Jean-Gabriel Périot
In Hiroshima, a survivor of the atomic bomb speaks about her experience during an interview for a television documentary. She evokes memories of her older sister: a young nurse who has disappeared yet remains omnipresent in the survivor’s thoughts. At the end of the shooting, the filmmaker—Akihiro, a Japanese man based in Paris—is deeply touched, and encounters an enigmatic Japanese woman. Together, they walk through the streets of Hiroshima. Between the two moves the possibility of budding love, as well as the indelible traces the city’s history. The couple sinks into the depths of a tale that the boundaries between present and past, reality and imaginary. A tender tale that moves forward through the details: a face, a voice, a word that becomes lost in the haze of memory as it would in the light of summertime. (Elena Lopez Riera)
