1985-1969
In 1969, the first edition of the “Young Authors’ Cinematography Encounters” (Rencontres cinématographiques de jeunes auteurs) took place in Belfort, as a project dedicated to works produced in film school. In 1979, Rui Nogueira, the general representative, founded the film competition. “To support the visibility of films, to defend a certain vision of cinema and, sometimes, to reveal a new filmmaker” then became the principle supported by Janine Bazin, who began working with the festival in 1982 and gave it its present form in 1986.
