God Bless the Child
Rodrigo Ojeda-Beck / Robert Machoian
Five children are abandoned by their mother and left to their own devices. The elder, a very maternal teenager, naturally takes the reins, as an out of the ordinary day begins for the group. At the height of the protagonists, the camera captures with virtuosity rare moments of intimacy as well as the multiple facets of childhood: limitless play, uncontrollable violence, clumsy tenderness, and cataclysmic moods... Without the filtering presence of adults, the children transform into titans on the screen, observed in their own world, with their own freedom, subjected only to their own rules. A work cinema as simple as it is powerful, God bless the child resonates with intimate memories and with universal imagery, as it imposes its savage beauty.
