I Am Truly A Drop of Sun on Earth
Elene Naveriani
In an mostly nocturnal Tbilisi, haunted by illegal or clandestine bodies, April, a prostitute fresh out of jail, crosses paths with Dije, a Nigerian who thought he was going to Georgia, United States, but finds himself in Georgia, Caucasia. This improbable encounter offers these two lost souls some short-lived but precious respite. Magnificently shot in crepuscular black-and-white, I Am Truly a Drop of Sun on Earth offers an implacable and chilling observation of a country corrupted by violence and indifference, set within a context of femicides. Yet through the grace of the gaze that Elene Naveriani brings to bear on her characters, their beauty and sensuality lends a glimmer of hope to the film. (Laurence Reymond)
Elene Naveriani a étudié la peinture à la State Academy of Art à Tbilissi, puis le cinéma à la HEAD à Genève. I Am Truly A Drop of Sun on Earth est son premier long métrage.
