At 63 years old and almost retired, Joaquim is forced to follow job centre rules so he can collect unemployment benefits : he must go from company to company asking for stamps to attest that he is looking for work. In these trips he reminisces about his life as an immigrant to the U.S., where he worked as a cab driver in New York and witnessed numerous Wall Street crashes.
The film is selected for the One+One award.
Susana Nobre has made several shorts (It Would Have Been Simple, 2005 ; Lisbon-Province, 2010 ; Trials, Exorcisms, 2015). Her first documentary feature Active Life premiered in Doclisboa in 2013, then her first feature Ordinary Time in Rotterdam in 2018. She is a member of the production company Terratreme. No Táxi Do Jack premiered in Berlin at the Forum.
